Saturday 04th and sunday 05th of september
For the first time in this blog’s lifetime, I am writing in english as this road trip was an international week end. And, I would say, that is mostly because of Bruno and because I can’t write in portuguese… Marion, Lucile and Cathy indeed speak french…
This WE is dedicated to Handanger region : Hardangerfjord (2nd biggest in Norway – 150km long) and Hardangervidda (huge moutain plateau). Two nights in Eidfjord, a small village known to be a wonderful spot for hiking.
Initial plan was to leave Bergen to reach Eidfjord early on friday afternoon. After 3 hours spent between shopping and traffic-jams, we are finally on our way…
We arrive in Eidfjord at 8 pm and discover our lovely cabin rent by Marion for the week-end.
A quick walk beside the fjord offers us an awesome view with countless stars guarding the fjord…
Next day, we discover Vøringfossen, one of the most known waterfalls in Norway.
It’s surprising to notice how security is…absent. No bareers or anything to prevent people from falling. It was the same in Preikestolen and that must be because of the Norwegian culture regarding mountains. For them, mountain is wild, unsecure and there is no need to install security facilities…
Short hike on Hardangervidda in the afternoon…
And from the dam where we stopped to have a quick lunch.
On sunday, we are on for a big hike above Eidfjord. Maybe 600+ only but with no trail (at least, there was maybe one but we lost it at some point.)… Sporty, muddy and wild. Typically norwegian 🙂

Our way back to Bergen is definitely less fun… 4hours driving for less than 200km.. Still, it was a perfect WE. Thanks to all of you. Next trip undefined but… more to come!

Surprising good weather you have there. I was expecting more grey sky and rain… Lucky you!
de temps à autre je regarde un peu les nouveaux erasmus qui sont à Bergen en échange (via facebook) car oui j'y ai passé quelques mois, un an pour tout dire! Et parfois je regarde le profil des frenchies, et là je suis tombé sur ton profil. et en y regardant de plus pres je vois que tu as un blog et qu'il parle de montagne, de trail et qu'en plus tu vis à Annecy… il ne m'en faut pas plus pour te laisser un commentaire!
J'ai probablement passé la meilleure année de ma vie à Bergen: nature formidable, rando folles, soirées mémorables (le sveisaften fut épique pour ma team). Et j'espère que tu en profiteras tout autant que moi!
Quand tu reviendras dans nos montagnes fait moi signe si jamais tu cherches des partenaires (ou meme si tu en as déjà!) pour courir dans le semnoz, le veyrier, les dents de lanfon… Ca pourrait être sympa!
